Lecrae / Andy Mineo at Church on the Queensway

Two-time Grammy award winner Lecrae stopped in Toronto during his current Anomaly tour. Lecrae, with support from Andy Mineo and DJ Promote, sold out the 4000 seat Church on the Queensway. This kind of fan support shows why music from Christian hip hop artists are considered to be changing the musical landscape. (Click photos to view larger size)

 

There may have been 500 people yet to get into the building as DJ Promote began the night with a 20 minute set of hip hop based remixes.

 

I’ve long wanted to see Andy Mineo. It was awesome to have him on the Lecrae tour. Best moment was his version of crowd surfing. Drop a mattress on top of the crowd and ride in comfort!

 

It’s time to me to be honest with this review. Simply put, I’m not really a hip hop fan. But after seeing Lecrae’s set, my attitude is changing. The honesty in his lyrics, great music, awesome light and lasers, and excellent stage presence made for a perfect show. (Of course, having a transport truck full of gear is bound to help).
