Jonathan Chu leaves Skillet

After eight years touring as a part of Skillet, violinist Jonathan Chu has stepped down from the band. The recent loss of his father, the stress of touring, and the desire to spend time with his family are all reasons cited for his departure.
Chu’s incredible talent and wild stage theatrics had become a key component of Skillet’s stage presence. Seeing a violin solo by Chu was guaranteed to create the greatest memory to be drawn from a Skillet show.
On Chu’s blog he stated:
I’ve done and seen more things than I could have ever dreamed.
I love my Skillet family greatly and will miss them dearly. To be a part of their legacy is one of my greatest honors and I am so humbled that they chose to take a chance on me.
To all of the incredible and passionate fans, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your dedication, encouragement and unwavering support. You, the fans, are the driving force behind any artist. I hope that the music will continue to move you towards the hope that is found in our Savior, Jesus Christ. He is worthy of all our efforts and praise. He is the true Hero in this story.
I will always and forever be a violinist and musician, a worshipper and messenger for our Savior, Jesus Christ.
