Bill Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins’ view of Christian music
CNN: What would you say to Christian rockers?
Corgan: Make better music…I think Jesus would like better bands….If you want to be good stop copying U2. U2 already did it.
Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins gave his opinion as to the abilities of Christian rock in a recent interview with Monita Rajpal for CNN. Personally, I think that Corgan is living with his head in the sand (in a musical sense). He needs to look to innovative musicians with a Christian worldview such as August Burns Red, Josh Garrels, Derek Webb, Future of Forestry, The Last Bison, Project 86 or MUTEMATH. Perhaps then he will discover that very few bands are or wish to be imitators of U2.
